Possible advantages and downsides of Guam becoming an independent country.
Befefits: Guam will be truly independent and self governed, Guam will not be obligated for unfunded Federal mandates such as compact-impact, earned income tax credits, etc.
Potential downsides: Guam will lose section 30 and other Federal program funds, being born on Guam will not bestow US citizenship, loss of US passport, loss of Medicare and Medicade, loss of ability to join the US military.
